God save us from Health and Safely lunacy !

I had 8 hours behind the wheel of the car today going to Cirencester and back to see a specialist optician (Yes, I now there are opticians in Cornwall but its a long story involving a masonry nail and a lack of safely goggles 25 years ago).

I remembered the old Costwold stone church was pretty so my only chance for a blip in the light was going to be to photograph some of the carvings on it. . . . . You may have noted the word WAS in that sentence. It is being worked on and like about half of London at the moment is wrapped from head to toe in plastic sheeting.

I mostly get the need for scaffolding to improve safety but what part of Health and Safety law has made builders encase everything in this plastic. I have a feeling its a con and its just there so that the builders don't have to wear a coat in the rain !. Fred Dibnah never needed 50 tons of scaff and a football pitch of plastic to climb onto a church roof, he just had a ladder, a tweed overcoat and a nice sturdy flat cap !
