Huang Kuan

Just finished a talk to some Chinese university leaders at the Confucius Institute. I've been to Abden House before but never noticed this statue before. Huang Kuan was the first Chinese student to graduate from a European university, having received his PhD in medicine from Edinburgh in 1857. Predictably he's on the interwebs, eg here.
