I'm Just A Kid
Jake and I traveled to Minneapolis for his medical appointment as we do every 2-3 months for his autoimmune disease, nothing life threatening, for which we are truly blessed. He sees a specialist at the U of M, normally at the regular clinic there... but this time they scheduled him at the pediatric clinic.
He was somewhat offended, of course, being 16 and all. Rolled his eyes all the way up the elevator to the 12th floor. They asked if he wanted a wrist band or sticker when we got there.... I laughed, he growled. Wrist band it was. Changed his tune the minute we turned the corner... pediatrics is like a 5 star hotel. Computers with internet, fab view overlooking downtown Minneapolis and the metrodome, flat screen TVs with cartoons... all smiles. Got to sit at the "little table" in the room playing with magnetic wall art. Even posed for the iphone blip. Rare. We ate Chinese and Thai at Big Bowl on the way home. Life is good.
Did I mention "valet parking?"
Quick-witted and good for a laugh, I considered Jake a great traveling companion... until he referred to my driving as "sketchy".
