Scott Monument, Edinburgh
Almost home from Morocco.
This was taken on the train at Edinburgh Waverley station, last leg of the journey, for Stirling.
This imposing memorial to Sir Walter Scott is the first building, along with Edinburgh castle that visitors see on arriving in Edinburgh by train.
Once I got asked by an American visitor to Scotland:" Gee you have got a beautiful city here but tell me why did you build your castle so close to the railway station?"
Ouch!
