Watching the Detectives
Well, it would seem i have something of a three pipe problem this evening.
I had intended to post a picture of the dark, deep, subterranean horrors that i found on my trip to the bowels of Castleton's earth this morning.
Then i intended to post a picture of a man of Castleton who had a museum of curios and was a well known escapologist, caver, and model maker at the turn of the last century...
but then i found this, and really that was it.
Couple a love of victoriana, gothic horror, and the unfettered genius of Conan Doyle and i was lost within a mystery of my own mind.
Aware as i was of Conan Doyle's connections with Castleton and his visits there, it never occured to me that there may be a slightly more tangible,if tenuous, link to him than the oral tradition.
Now i know there is, it would seem more research is required, a pile of cushions on the floor, a briar pipe, a Persian slipper and possibly an air conditioner and inhaler.....
