The sign was being eaten by the tree when I first came here forty years ago. Slowly, inexorably the message from the past is disappearing. Once the sign looked likely to outlive the line but now fortunes are reversed.

American film-maker, Carson Davidson, described the Talyllyn Railway as a piece of Victorian scroll-work, lifted and saved for future generations in his 1950's film 'Railway with a Heart of Gold'. A couple of generations later it is still going strong.
