The holiday cottage in Norfolk had a very nice toaster and ours is very hit and miss. Why does it toast white bread quicker than brown? Why does it toast one side more than the other? So yesterday we bought a "Norfolk" toaster, and I had mushrooms on a perfect slice of toast for breakfast this morning.

Browsing the weekend newspaper supplements I found that for more than double the money I could have had the same toaster in chilli pink.

If only I had known!
