Lathyrus Odoratus

Hypoxylon

There are a number of spot-like fungi. This one is brick-red in colouration, turning darker as it ages, and grows on the branches of dead deciduous trees, particularly beech. The pitted surface and hemispherical shape suggest that it is hypoxylon fragiforme rather than coral spot fungus which is smooth, much smaller and less regular in shape.
