The life & times of Jacks

By Jacqueline

Chilling.....Literally

This week has been rather manic with my return from Chicago and a full on week at work while Jetlagged for 3 days.

Then we have had my family visit which was great fun. The house has been eerily empty today but it's been quite a long day. I got up about 730/8am to spend breakfast with Aidan, Jo, Stew and Niamh before they got in the car around 9.30 to drive back up to Scotland and although the plan was to go back to bed it didn't quite work out that way.

I caught up on some emails, catch up with friends and then with some TV - Criminal Minds looks like it will be an awesome season. I then went out for a run - this is the first run in quite a while but it was a good one. I am still getting to know the area so the route I did was about 1.5 miles - not too far but while I'm not too certain of where the roads go it's good to take it slow to explore.

I chilled out in a lovely warm bath after that with my book - The Book Thief. What I didn't expect was to be totally bubbling in tears at the last few chapters. It's been a wee while since I've read anything that moved me as much as that book. Utterly brilliant.

The rest of the day was spent tidying and clearing the house after the family visit. S popped out to get some draught excluders and hooks as this house is draughty plus we needed to put some more pictures up - I guess we are still "nesting" or making this house a home. Not so easy though as normally the girls do that sort of thing but I just don't seem interested - so poor Steve becomes the homemaker...but then seeing as he has good taste I can live with this. In fact he bought some lovely light shades today :)

The picture today is some beer we had put in the freezer to chill and then later forgot about - it's a tad on the frozen side. Made me chuckle when I saw it out on the side. What can I say - sometimes, it takes the simplest things to amuse me..... 'nuff said!
