Reflecting
Getting sand between our toes and tippy toe-ing through the water was one of the best moments of this day. We found bits and pieces of sand dollars along the shore and then Mr. Fun found a whole one. It's been years since we've seen sand dollars on the beach. Dollars on the sand--I wish that were a lovely sign that the economy is about to turn around.
We are in Cayucos (pronounced "ki- you- cuss") established in 1867 by Captain James Cass and soon it was a busy, deep water port, settled by Italian, Swiss, and Portuguese. Today this is an extremely friendly community.
Today there was almost no morning overcast or fog, so early today the sun was warming everything. We spent the day exploring -- driving through neighborhoods to look at the variety of beach homes and then walked several block into "downtown" for a late afternoon dinner. At the end of the day we watched the sun's bright rays illuminate the pier while the shadows grew long on the sand. Then we walked back to this quaint little motel we're calling home for the evening.
Tomorrow has no agenda, so we'll see whether we can find some mischief!
Good night from the Central Coast of California.
