So long Gold Goddess

So long Gold Goddess. Or is it Beige Beast?

You can't really see from the picture, but we have a beast of a car. It's a big 4x4 (check out the two gear sticks) and is GOLD. I hate the colour but have a lot of love for the car. Sadly, it's time to say bye.

Before you all start hating me for having a gas guzzling 4x4, I have to explain. Whistler is a very, very snowy place. It snows for six months of the year, and I don't mean a little dusting of snow. From November to the end of April, you can wake up to 10-20cm of new snow in your driveway. Last winter we paid for a snow plough to clear our drive every morning (at 6am) and we still needed to use the four wheel drive to get out (at 8am).

But alas, Whistler is no more. I'm on maternity leave and my husband commutes to Vancouver so we have moved to Squamish. It's only 30 mins south of Whistler but you get 2cm of snow overnight rather than 20cm of snow, so we can't really justify the Beast anymore. Amazingly, Simon's gas for the commute will go from $400 per month to $15o (if we get a Golf TDI estate/wagon). Huge difference.

I'll be glad to return to a regular car, but sad to say bye to the Gold Goddess.
