Coming in for a landing

"It's trying to act like winter...and it's way too early," commented a man in the park as we passed on the trail. I had to agree. The thermometer was stuck in the mid-forties today, almost glove weather. Whatever happened to "October's bright blue weather?" Indian summer anyone?

This chickadee, looking for some peanuts, is oblivious to the weather. This is the first time I have taken the peanut bag to the park in months. Actually, I haven't been going to the neighborhood park since the mosquitoes took possession. Yesterday and today were too cold for them, and it's great to return to my usual haunts.
