Ice and hoverflies
Well the weather forecasters were right - first frost on the cars this morning and quite a heavy one too. Had forgotten the delights of scraping the windscreen and defugging the inside of the car.
Lovely quick walk round the block in bright sunshine but still with a chill in the air. The bees, wasps and hoverflies were busy on the ivy blossom. A beekeeper friend says that the ivy pollen makes horrible honey - but the bees seem to like it and it is a rare source of food so late in the year. This hoverfly was alternating between basking in the sun and feeding on the ivy.
Governors' meeting tonight - first meeting of the term and lots of optimism about the coming school year.
