Ole Jim Pool

This is my favorite secret on the Gallaudet campus. When you stand on this plexiglass in the Peikoff Alumni House (fondly known as Ole Jim), you're floating above one of the first indoor pools in the United States, originally constructed in 1880. It was actually thought to have been destroyed, but a renovation in the 1990s revealed that it was still under the floor! So this window was installed so we can look down and remember the days of deaf students splashing merrily in the pool.

The light is a modern addition, of course, to make the pool view easier to see.
