Nature day after day

Conkers

These conkers were collected on Sunday at Scone Palace. I just love the colour and texture of them (as I'm sure a lot of people do). I hunted round the tree opening them up and then stuffing them in my pockets. I felt like a squirrel running round collecting acorns! By the end my pockets were bulging and I had to put them in a plastic bag so they wouldn't fall out.

There is only one horse chestnut tree near me that I know of but it's virtually inaccessible now because it's behind a big group of new houses that have been built so when I saw these conkers I just had to grab as many as I could!

This morning from the garden a group of thirteen gorgeously white Whooper Swans flew past bugling. Another great sighting from the garden ;)
