West Coast Wanderings
Today I set off on a wee week adventure up the West Coast of NZ. Once you drive over the Haast Pass (a feat in itself given the steep and winding roads) everything changes. The environment is made up of the rugged coast line, dense rainforest topped off with the Southern Alps that separates this 9% of South Island from the rest of the mainland.
The people are laid back with a laconic sense of humour; the sand flies are prevalent (fingers crossed I don't get bitten!) and what ever the weather does in the West Coast the opposite will be happening over the rest of the country. Forecast for the next 5 days - perfect sunshine!!! :-)
