more secret gardens

At lunchtime today a few of us went on a little scamper round more of the gardens (lead by a 2nd year student who knew their way). We found the topiary garden and had a jolly time trying to work out what on earth the shapes were meant to be. Then we went to the maze and cheated our way to the centre (well there's gaps in the bushes).

But then we were brought to the tropical house and found all the weird looking plants and spiky cacti. There was a cacti that looked like a pile of hairy caterpillars, but in the end I preferred the swirly patterns on these and the way the spikes look like stars. :)
