Savoy Centre

The sun was out again today, so I'm looking on the bright side. This is part of the facade of the Savoy Centre on Sauchiehall Street. It's a listed building I think, although all that remains is the facade, as behind it is a 70s/80s shopping complex for small businesses, indicated by the mysterious satellite dish effort on the roof. It's one of those rabbit-warrens that I love, full of watch-battery vendors, phone-unlockers, curtain-makers, numerous pound shops and sellers of Chinese ornaments, and surprising amounts of cafes doing pensioners dinners. The Singer sewing machine shop is in there, need I say more? Also, I'm not sure if Timpson's do a staff award, but the Savoy branch are easily the most helpful shoe menders I've come across, even if they are owned by a toff (possibly they are aware of this and are undermining it in a typically Glaswegian fashion, considering the amount of stuff they do for free). There's even a nightclub in there, although I have been advised that under no circumstances should I ever visit it. A tempting prospect therefore...

There used to be a place like this on Argyle Street and it got turned into a sports superstore. Philistines.

On the down-side, Alexander's come out in a rash so we have to stay at home all week.

I'm amused that yesterday's photo, the most boring in the history of Blipfoto, got 85 views, considerably more than ones I consider better efforts! I don't know if that's schadenfreude or sympathy...if the latter, thank you very much....
I've got someone coming out tomorrow morning to look at the hole in the roof. I'm not best pleased as I paidthem a considerable amount 3 years ago to fix this exact problem, so they're getting an earful. So Alexander being off nursery is useful for something.
