Kookaburra
We drove from Apollo Bay to Queenscliff, caught the ferry to Sorrento and then continued on to Jonny's parents out the back of Rye. Nekta drove down from Melbourne and met us so he could hang out with the kids.
We had a lovely lunch and then walked down to the beach. On the walk back we came across a blue tongue lizard on the side of the road. For us NZers it was massive at 30 cms or so. It hung around for a minute or two so we could take photos and then high tailed it into someone's garden.
Back at the house I got to use Nekta's D90 and managed to blip this fine fella. A couple of local Kookaburra's have figured out Jonny's dad will feed them mince if they hang around long enough. We also saw a couple of magpies fly in for some meat but they were much more wary of strangers.
Christine tells me Crimson Rosellas have also started visiting the garden. Am looking forward to photographing them sometime.
Am now saving for a Nikon and zoom lens.
