Solar Time

Sidereal time is solar time in the natural world we live in. A sidereal day is a "time scale that is based on the Earth's rate of rotation measured relative to the fixed stars." This solar watch, for me, has a double meaning, it is measuring the earth's rotation on it's axis with relation to it's sun (star). The other meaning is that it is powered by light from the sun or some other light source. It has no mainspring and it has no battery to replace once a year. This timepiece which I have worn for approximately nine years has never been serviced or lost time in that nine years. I put it away for a while, probably somewhere in the vacinity of 3 months and when I retreived it, it still had the correct time although having been in the dark all that time. I have heard it will maintain the correct time for six months in the dark. This would be great for the Alaskan winters.
