Ash Cave
Sunday
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn."
John Muir (1838 - 1914)
Another gorgeous day. In the morning we went to Ash Cave - a huge recess cave - I've seen it several times now - but each time I'm still amazed by the sight - the photograph doesn't really do it justice - it needs a panorama shot. It takes its name from huge piles of Ash found by the early settlers- left from Native American fires.
We moved onto Conkles Hollow, where we had a picnic before walking the trails. We did the trail along the gorge floor first, and then the 2 1/2 mile rim trail which offers great views. After that we set Laura off on the right road for her return home, and we went for an ice-cream - we did offer Laura one, but she declined!. Then we went to Logan to go to a supermarket and then to Nelsonville to check out the beginning of the bike trail we are planning on doing tomorrow.
