Red Admiral

This is #3 in my series of 'Little Known Facts' ... (#1 and #2 are here)

We're all familiar with shadow-puppets - the rabbit, the bird and so on.

What I've managed to capture here today is an event that's often claimed to be mere folklore - a butterfly making a shadow-puppet butterfly.

It's true!

We watched in amazement at it went through it's entire repertoire - the elephant, a tortoise, a no.14 bus (unfortunately I have no useable shots as my auto-focus refused to do it's job) and it finished off in spectacular style with a truly magnificent butterfly ... the only one a managed to capture ... how typical, but nonetheless a rewarding spectacle this late on in the year.

Wow! My day complete I headed off home a very happy blipper.
