Radomsko Church, Poland

A very full first day. We had several meetings and presentations in the morning. Everyone greeted us warmly. Beautiful blue skies and sunshine. Our hosts were keen to show us around the newly renovated buildings and the landscaped garden area. What a difference since my visit 18 months ago.

We met up with several friends who had come to Scotland back in June. They wanted to share the best of fare with us, and had prepared a special lunch - wild boar, venison, dumplings and the most delicious cakes.

After a photoshoot in the park, we went on a walk around the town, past this church and fountain. We saw a new memorial to the local partisans who died just after the war, and another on the side of the church to Father Jerzy Popieluszko who was murdered for supporting the Solidarity Union in 1984. We passed by the weekly market, where we were told you could buy "anything", including puppies and live chickens.

Next, a tour of the museum, and it was here that we began to realise the suffering this town had endured during World War 2. Around half of the population were Jewish, taken by train to Treblinka, never to return.

On to tea and cake in the garden of one of our hosts, and in the evening, a traditional Polish dinner in a underground restaurant.
