Trouble is paradise
The sun was still shining, something I hadn't expected.
Brunch was a fry up complete with porridge oats bread, one of my favourite things in the world. We were so upset when the bread maker we took to Grianan died and the recipe didn't work in the new one but I eventually realised that, amazingly, it's possible to bake a loaf in the oven.
We walked to Port Ban, which is my favourite place on the island. Usually we would take a picnic, walk there via the Machair and spend a while exploring rock pools or sunbathing on the rocks before walking back across the centre of the island. I'm always amazed by how beautiful it is, the sand is white and the sea the perfect turquoise of the Caribbean. It's so inviting, but so cold. Still, it's one of the places I have considered as a location should we ever choose to have a wedding.
All this said, I was in for a surprise. We walked the opposite way from normal, crossing the island first. Naturally we got lost, and I got stressed. When we arrived the inviting white beach was covered with washed up seaweed, the wind was howling, and the waves were crashing. I could only be reminded that paradise isn't forever, then I realised its just that in my vision of paradise it's always summer.
