Belisha beacons

Had to nip out to get some vittles this evening from Lidl with Mr Toad , and spotted this old fashioned crossing by the shop which seems to have appeared from nowhere .
I thought it's unusual to see Belisha beacons nowadays, it's usually beeping traffic lights, as they are flashing on and off all the time I was lucky they were on when I clicked.
On the way home we stopped off to get a Chinese take away to save cooking.
