The rule
We have a rule in this house that the cook must never apologise for a meal - because those who eat it will always be very appreciative of the effort that went into preparing everything.
Tonight I really wanted to break the rule and sort of did because this dinner was very promising - kale (from the garden), garlic, chilli, anchovies and gnocchi - but way too much olive oil...
It was hard to keep the apologies to a minimum.
