A statue of... uhm. Somebody important.
I was walking along Princes Street this evening as night was just beginning to fall (far too early for my liking). Even though the sky was still bright, all the statues were already lit up, resulting in some interesting contrasts. I particularly liked this one with the Castle in the background.
But because Princes St Gardens were already closed for the evening, I couldn't get close enough to see who it is actually a statue of. After a little bit of detective work on Wikipedia, it turns out that this is Allan Ramsay, a poet who lived from 1686-1758. I must admit that I've never heard of him...
Awkward.
