Went to the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial today. Wow. I am glad that we took a tour, because we were given lots of information we would have never found on our own.

The toughest part for me to grasp was the "boot testing track" where inmates at the camp had to wear boots made for Nazi soldiers, and run on a track of various terrains all day. That was their job. Our tour guide said they ran about 40km a day - close to a marathon. I found that utterly ridiculous. There is like, nobody who could do that healthy, let alone emaciated, starved and abused people. Fucked up.

I don't know why that stuck out for me, as the entire camp was ridiculously horrible but... geez.
