Adam Smith, Edinburgh

Shortly after taking this photo, I bumped into an old friend who said he'd been enjoying 'reading' my blips - I realised I very rarely write anything about my photos. Now that I know someone is taking the time to look, I suppose I should take some time to write something :)

Adam Smith was one of the key figures of the Scottish Enlightenment, he is widely cited as the father of modern economics. The bee hive he is standing next to refers to "The Fable of the Bees" which describes human society as a ?productive bee hive, even though each bee is as selfish as can be.
