Spikes and Holes

Brushing leaves into a pile in the back garden this morning, I noticed this one and thought, "why not?". So, popped it into a clip intended for holding notes on my desk and let the sun do its thing. No sooner done than the sun vanished behind cloud and hasn't been seen since. As the world hasn't suddenly come to a freezing lightless end I must assume it's still up there somewhere but it is being particularly shy right now.
