Autumn in New York State...
Here in the US, it would seem most calandars with Autumn photos feature covered bridges painted red, a pretty white church nestled into a valley, and brightly colored hills....all reminiscent of New England.
However.....here in New York State, we have some pretty awesome scenery as well! Living in the Finger Lakes Region, we find many gorges and waterfalls.
Today, Husband and I traveled to Ithaca, the home of Cornell University. Ithaca is a most incredible city, full of houses built on hills that seem only mountain goats would traverse! Cornell University reminds me more of a fortress built on a hill than anything academic!
Come to think of it, I have seen many people wearing shirts that say Ithaca is gorges! Yes, as one comes down from the hilltops, there are some serious gorges, to be sure!
Taughannock Falls is located near the little town of Trumansburg, not too far from Ithaca. As we were traveling home, just before dusk and in drizzling rain, I saw the sign for Taughannock Falls State Park and we turned on in. Wow! If only the sun would have been shining!
I had to bury my camera in my sweater until I could snap a few photos, then I was off to the car! As you can see, this is an amazing place! Oh, and does anyone else see a "heart" shaped view? I wonder if they do that on purpose!
