Our Star
One of the reasons I was visiting family was that it was my Uncle Vic's 90th birthday. He's such a character and is extremely good for his age.
Uncle Vic is a Burma Star veteran. The stars were awarded for one day or more of operational service during the Burma Campaign between the 11th December 1941 and the 2nd September 1945. Many a story has been told over a glass of whisky (his daily ritual) and we are so proud of him. Up until recently he would go up to London to the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.
We held a party for him on Sunday and some 80 odd people attended. Needless to say, we gave him a day to remember and he really enjoyed.
A Burma Star medalist he may be, but to us he's a star in his own right.
