Cyclamen intaminatum

both today and yesterday photo's were taken in the Rock Alpine Garden at Denver Botanic Garden. This Cyclamen like the Biarum is native to southern Turkey were autumn brings teh return of rain and cooler temps. Both plants welcome this change in their native habitat by returning to life. Many plants from Mediterranean climates follow a similar pattern of waking up in the autumn and going dormant in the spring. Some are hardy enough to take the rigors of a steppe winter.
