A Woodpecker in the Garden!

I know this isn't a very good shot but it has to be my blip for today as it was the nicest surprise I've had in a while. I was opening the curtains in our living room when I heard Blackbirds alarm-calling and I know this means something dangerous (like a cat or the Sparrowhawk) is nearby but this time it was something completely out of the blue! This beautiful male Great Spotted Woodpecker landed on the apple tree (this is the first time I've ever seen a woodpecker in our garden) and by pure luck my camera was sitting on the table not far away from me. I grabbed it and then came back to the window and took this one photo of it (now on the plum tree) and immediately after the above shot was taken it flew away.

Absolutely amazing start to the day! Looks like I'll have to start putting out the peanut feeder again ;) xxx
