Eternally Weaving Stories

Asking For It

I pretty much set up myself.

The conversation I had before I left was about our houses need to begin pranks. Winter is coming, so something has to be done to keep the mind from focusing too much on the blankness and coldness.

At the gym, not a thought crosses my mind about potential pranks or my own vulnerabilities. My mental focus rested on no further harm towards my shoulder.

Returning to the car my phone is lit up. A welcomed message from a friend overseas, supporting my desire to maintain my shoulder's current proper location. I call up my fellow conspirator to see if she wants to join Pete and I for a Columbus Day Cigar. Preoccupied by frozen yogurt.

Halfway through the cigar I fold my lips over and hold it between my lips step outside the tent to pee, when my phone lights up again. This time, no welcomed message, but a surprise, or a realization. So-and-so has commented on your status.

The cigar gets finished, the coca-cola can smashed and I return home. Entering a dark house, I find my computer moved. Opening it, I find this photo, exhibiting the beauty and overall grace of my roommates. Along with a message from "me" reading "Cowboy butts make me nuts."

Let the games begin.
