Giraffe Crate

If you have`nt been to Kenya and witnessed the Curio shops, then you probably wouldn't understand the joke.

But for those blip friends that I have, that have been lucky enough to witness the fibreglass Giraffe that has moved in nearby, then you will understand my story.

Everyday whilst on Safari we were subjected to these Curio shops, nothing in these shops were priced up, and all I can say is the proprieters obviously were under some illusion that tourists or English people were rich !! For a small Giraffe (no bigger than 6inches), and 1 sarong, they wanted to charge me 13600 kenyan shillings....................converted into sterling is £100, I tried to explain, I didnt want to buy the property.

So in these Curio shops the Giraffes started from around 6 inches up to around 10ft, and it was our challenge to find out, how much it would be for the biggest Giraffe and how much to ship it back, well it became a joke on our Safari bus, and we never did find out how much the tallest one was, everytime we asked, we got "we can negotiate".

Then when we got to our hotel, and saw the Export crate, I couldnt help but take a photo, and pass it on to the others, when we again met up at the Airport, I told them, I have the crate for the Giraffe, I just need the Giraffe.

We left the Voyager around 4pm today, to head back to Mombasa airport for our 50 minute flight to Nairobi, and then meet our 11.45pm flight back to Heathrow.

Would I do it again............maybe.
