Blackberry Brandy! This lot should be just right by Christmas.

When the Gregorian calendar was adopted in 1752, what had been Michaelmas Day (Sept 29) became Old Michaelmas Day (today, or according to some sources, tomorrow, but let's not quibble).
According to folklore, blackberries should not be picked after this date, as on this day Satan was thrown out of Heaven & landed in a bramble bush. The tale goes that he cursed & spat on them.

Luckily this batch should be free from Satanic saliva!
