intrepid canoeists
we decided today that there aren't many things that are more intrepid than canoing.
What a great saturday away from the city.. we took the train out to Bad Saarow (not bad sorrow, but rather Lake Saarow) east of Berlin in Brandenburg. It's a really nice little resort town that reminds me of the lake towns in New England. Everyone spent half the day lazing around on the shore and eating picnic food. After a while about half of us took a boat across the lake and rented paddle boats/canoes/kayaks to row across the lake. Tony, Jessica, Jenny and I paddle boated 4 and a half miles from one dock to the other.. quite a feat, if we do say so ourselves :)
When I wasn't using my powerful legs to propel us through the water, I turned my camera on the other IES kids who were in their various watercraft around the lake.
All in all, an exhaustingly fantastic day.
