ozark jack

I got to judge a fiber arts show up at Ozark Folkways this evening. It was fun to see all the exceptional spinning, knitting, weaving, crochet, quilting, basketry, sewing and felting that was on display. It reminded me of how passionate I am about all fiber arts and may have even motivated me to put a new warp on my loom.

When I was finished, Ozark Jack was waiting in the main gallery ready to come home with me. He was made by a local artist using the horse hair technique. I was told this involves horse hair being laid on the clay when just out of the kiln which then burns off leaving a carbon trail that makes those spooky black lines.
