incompetent railways

Spent a very long day on business in London today, no thanks to East Coast Railways. Due to leave 'the toon' on 9.30 am train, cancelled, had to catch 10.00 am one which stopped at almots every staion en route and left me nearly an hour late getting there. Due to catch the Edinburgh train at 19.00 pm back and just after this shot was taken it was announced over the tannoy system that it was due to leave platform 8 albeit twenty minutes late. Went to platform eight along with numerous other people to find a train which had not been cleaned and which I was told was leaving at 19.30 for Newcastle " what about the tannoy message?" a guard was asked. " oh that left platform 6 ten minutes ago!!!" he replied. So all the people who missed the correct train were shepherded on to this one which eventually arrived in Newcastle at 23.10 pm instead of 22.00 p.m. In bed by midnight all the same and after a good old moan to Mrs U settled down to sleep by 1.00 am. What a day, thank god I don't have to do this very often!
