An ominous sign?

I finally managed to get out for a walk today - for which my back is already thanking me. Really quite autumnal out there today and, with the north east wind hitting our bit of coast, it felt quite cold when the sun went behind clouds. The temperature has dropped 10 degrees since Sunday, which I think is just rude.

All the trees down here are laden with berries. Folklore says that this means nature is providing lots of food for the birdies and other animals in preparation for a harsh winter. I truly hope not - the last two have been bad enough, and I was marooned at home for good chunks of the 2009/2010 winter. Maybe I should invest in snow shoes, just in case!
