trying out his wings

lots of baby birds around on the feeders in my parents' front garden at the minute, and out back and all over the garden too. blackbirds, goldfinches, blue tits and allsorts. but this wee fat fluffy sparrow is so funny - he's fledged, but can't fly much, nor really balance well, as his longer feathers haven't arrived yet. he and his fellow babies have fallen off the feeders and branches and this water dish so many times while flapping madly to get some attention and food from an adult - so funny. but it doesn't take long before they're perching and stuffing seed in their beaks like there's no tomorrow...
