Stand Off

I went for a walk today to look at the river. On my way back I was taking some pics of sparrows when they all disappeared and flew across the small canal I was at. They were all huddled around the one spot.. About 50 of them. I had the big lens on so I took a look and after about 5 pics (that included it) I spotted the snake. I BOLTED to the other side and got some pics.

I am not much into insets, but I thought both parts of the story should be shown. I tried the bigger pic of the Birds V Snake with the snake as the inset but it didn't work.. Neither could be seen well so I tried it the other way. On the bottom left you can see the stand off.

I am Australian. so snakes are a fairly normal thing to me. I know they freak out a lot of people. I just never expected to find one in the 'wild' here in China. I was sooooooooo stoked.
