Steve Jobs RIP
I thought the email was spam when it arrived in my inbox, but a quick check showed the story on news sites and on Apple fan sites and on Apple's own home page.
I've been a Machead since the late '80s, so there really can be no contest about what today's blip would be, no matter what else I might point the camera at. Just a quick snap of Apple's home page.
Sad news.
------------------------------------
A postscript. I was lucky enough to witness Steve in action at one of his legendary keynote presentations. It was in Paris, at the now-defunct Apple Expo, in September 2000, when Mac OS X was launched and all of us who were there came away with a copy of the Beta. Everything that's ever been said about keynote-Steve is accurate. His charisma, his infectious enthusiasm - it all made an unforgettable impression, and of course the style and panache of the presentations themselves set totally new standards in a world so sadly dominated by Powerpoint bullet points.
