respite care
a day off, so i popped down to alnwick to do tag team respite care for S and J today - they're having a tough time, it seems the least i can do is be around for someone new to talk to with some distracting wittering about stuff from outside. J and i had ourselves a good lunch - that's my burger with bloody mary ketchup :-) - and then S and i had coffee later on.
i've not seen them since i was down a fortnight ago and grabbed the chance to tag along with S on the wansbeck commute - it's not long in one way, but in another respect it's half a lifetime. N isn't doing well, even given the parameters of how well he might be doing right now; i was pretty shocked at the change in him. not much to be said, nothing to be done, but i like to think that sometimes it's enough to have friends to just be there - S would (will) do it for me in a heartbeat, there was never a moment where i wasn't going to do this for her.
