City lights

Seattle is an awesome city. I've always wanted to snap a nighttime picture of the city lights with a slow shutter. This photo reminds me of a Bible verse:

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden." (Matthew 5:14)

Imagine that you were in a place that was 100% dark and you were trying to find the right path home. You would be wandering around for a long time because you would never find the path. You may even be stuck there forever. Now imagine if you saw someone who had a candle and was walking on the path that leads out of the dark place. You would be so relieved, you would be drawn to it, you would follow that person, and you would probably want a light for yourself. This is exactly what Jesus is talking about. He tells Christians to be as lights in the dark dark world. So much so that it would draw more people to know him so that they may also have the light.

A final world from John:

"This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." (1 John 1:5-10)
