I attended a local democracy meeting in Devizes tonight. After more than two hours, just as a speaker was about to talk on local celebrations for Liz Windsor's Diamond Jubilee in 2012, I made an excuse and left.

It was a relief to sit awhile in the British Lion and reconnect with real people.
