Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Attaching the Leaf!

We were about to leave the Victoria Gardens Shopping Place after spending an hour in the Apple Store for a lesson to learn a little more about our Macs. We enjoyed the special attention of a young clerk who seriously helped Mr. Fun with some of the questions he had, and when I asked about this or that, he would not tell me the answer; instead, he'd walk me through each step, giving me verbal directions as to where I needed to be looking on the screen . . . "upper right of your screen, third item on the pull down menu." It worked for me. So we both left happy and never even noticed what was happening across the street.

Since last spring we've been watching that building get a complete face-lift and all new insides, but had not a clue what the building was going to house. So we made our exit from the Apple Store and headed toward the car. We stopped to "ooh and aah" when we saw beautiful blooms on the Bird of Paradise plants. We actually stepped off the path and into the garden. Then a security officer called to us from the parking structure to ask what we were doing when he realized we had a camera, and then, "Oh, okay taking pictures!" He was an extremely friendly guy. We told him where we had been, the Apple Store, and he told us what was happening across the street.

We said, "No way, REALLY?!"

"Yeah!" he said. But it's a secret. No one knows we are getting a giant-size Apple Store. However, if you drive by right now you'll see them putting the apple on the building. That's all he had to say and we were gone!

"Let's get a Blip!" Mr. Fun expressed. So as we came down the street and could see the workers attaching the leaf, I handed him my point & shoot and he captured a series of photos. When the workers glanced our way and realized we were photographing the scene, the black plastic cover was dropped! and the show was over.

We're thrilled to learn that the store is going to be about four times the size of the current store, which is always jammed with customers.

So even though I captured a glorious sunrise complete with distinct rays shooting into the sky, I think seeing an Apple get its leaf is fairly rare.

So that's our Monday story and we're sticking to it!
Good night from Southern California.

P.S. It's a secret, so don't tell anyone. It is also a secret that the new iPhone will be released tomorrow. No one in the Apple Store could tell us about it, but all the local TV news programs are buzzing about it. I can keep a secret, it's just the people I tell who can't!
