Planes trains and automobiles

Playtime at Gran's house this afternoon. Meccano, cars, and makeshift drums! Ben and Gran had a sing-off, both of them getting louder and louder, drumming away. I think Gran was half expecting the neighbours to come round asking if we were all right!! When we were at Gran and Grandad's last Thursday Grandad said something about having to make Ben his own plane, as Ben absolutely loves the red wooden plane that Grandad made for Steve when he was little. And what do you know, he comes home from work today with a little bag for Ben, and inside is a beautiful new wooden plane, all red white and blue! Ben was absolutely delighted. :0)

He's enjoyed playing with Gran and Grandma (Grandma was a very good girl and played nicely in the corner with the meccano hehe - that's her creation in the picture), and then with Grandad when he came home, and after tea he got all giddy playing with Aunty Ruth. Then when he got tired they watched Toy Story (could have been Toy Story 3, I'm not sure) but when it got to an hour through the film and I realised there was another 40 minutes to go, and saw Ben's face - he looked as if he were going to fall asleep any moment. So home it was, and he was so tired again he didn't want to say goodbye to anybody. Pyjamas on and straight into bed when we got home.

Hmm. Finally got round to sorting the tyres out this evening. I asked Steve's dad to use the foot pump as the air thingy at the garage I usually use was still out of order. But I only know the proper pressure in bar, not psi so couldn't tell him what it needed to be. Turns out I think he pumped it to 65psi when it should have been 33psi according to the different garage we called in at on the way home!! Eeek! But at least all the tyres ought to be ok now..... phew.....

Ben's been watching the Kodo drummers on DVD again this morning. After the last time, when my parents came to look after him while we went on a conference back in April (I think) and they couldn't get the DVD player / speaker combination to work until all of a sudden the sound came on at full volume and near frightened the life out of little Ben, he's not been particularly keen on watching the Kodo drummers. So it's kind of nice to know that they're back in favour! He evidently paid GREAT attention this morning as his drumming style has changed and developed again! I really wanted to get a shot of him watching the drummers but as soon as he saw me get the camera out he came and sat next to me rather than standing where he was watching the TV screen... ah well.

I've been getting more and more tired this week. Relaxed, but exhausted. I'm not sleeping well, and I can't pin it down to anything in particular. Except, blatantly, pregnancy. Can't blame Ben as when I wake up he's in his own bed fast asleep; couldn't blame restless legs for a change; couldn't even blame baby for wriggling because for a change last night every time I woke he was still. AND I didn't even need a wee. Just simply couldn't stay asleep. It's been getting worse each night, and each day I'm getting more and more tired. I'm going back to bed after breakfast and falling asleep again in the afternoon! Was reading my daily pregnancy thingy this afternoon and typically it was talking about sleep. "It's also possible that a severe lack of sleep in the last few weeks of pregnancy can mean a longer labour...." Oh dear Lord. Just what I needed to read when I'm exhausted already!!

Mum's watching Downton Abbey now, and I'm ready for bed. Just waiting on Steve for a skype call before I turn in and hopefully get some sleep. Another day with nothing planned tomorrow. Am tempted to go down to the hairdressers and see if they'll colour my hair. An hour of sitting doing next to nothing sounds lovely. Might take a book to read.....
