Welcome to Jewsons

Big day for me today, first in a new job. It wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination, but it was enjoyable. I have said many times before that the Builders Merchant is my jungle, and to get back to my roots was almost refreshing. At 7.45am this morning I was literally carrying the kitchen sink (x5, right hand drainers) up a flight of stairs.

By lunchtime I'd made a delivery to the City Council and been to an electrical wholesaler as well as enjoying banter and a prolonged period of learning. That period won't be finishing anytime soon.

I got to drive an automatic car as well, never done that before. It takes a bit of getting used to, I kept ramming my foot on the clutch as soon as I start the car.... only there is no clutch. I always depress the clutch before starting the engine incase the thing is in gear. I learned to do that after driving Mum's car, which spends more time sat around idle in gear as I do sat around idle in my living room. That's a fairly mean feat.

My feet hurt, but for some reason my focus seems very clear indeed. I've talked about 2007 and all that many times on my journal, and as those familiar with it will know I felt a lot changed for me in the last four years. However today I took a big step 'back' to what I know and managed to somehow secure a role that seemed out of reach back then. Getting back to that is a bit like getting back to my professional frame of mind from July 2007: customer driven, focused on sales and improving the companies image.

There will be no daytime Facebook, no excessive blipping and very rare texts in works time. I'll be dilligent, approachable but essentially a closed book. My private life is staying that way in this environment. I've learned my lessons from a succession of professional roads that led almost to ruination, and yet somehow have managed to bring me out where I always intended to go.

I think I said that the other day now actually.

In other news: great weekend.

I'm promising comments by the weekend, and not for your sakes, for mine. I love looking at pictures and all that jazz BUT FIFA12 isn't going to become my slave without a bit of early hard work, and nine and a half hour days make for a fairly restricted amount of free time. I will however be perusing come like, Friday. Or Thursday.

Remember: If you need any building materials go to your local Jewson. Make sure the people who serve you know that you have gone there because of the Assistant Branch Manager at branch 636. Cheers.
